How to Polish a Mahogany Chair

Polishing furniture is a fairly simple process. We polish furniture ourselves before it goes into the shop. This process can be applied to almost any piece of furniture; we are going to use a chair.

Before anything else, the chair needs to be washed with soapy water and 0000 grade steel wool. Using the finest steel wool is very important, as anything rougher will ruin the piece of furniture.

The chair needs to be dried after it is washed, otherwise it will turn white. An old soft towel would be ideal for this. You need to make sure that it is fully dry before polishing.

Now, on to the actual polishing! We use a damp soft cloth or an old t-shirt will do (one you don't want to wear again!). Liberon Wax Polish Black Bison in Georgian Mahogany (number O559) was used on this chair.

The polish needs to be rubbed on with the soft cloth with the grain of the wood with a medium firmness. The polish needs to be buffed off with a towel.
